About the Downtown Technology Center
Synogen's Downtown Technology Center (DTC) is located in the Sun Center, in the heart of downtown Gainesville. Bordering the Hippodrome State Theatre and Union Street Station, the DTC is less than one mile from the University of Florida campus. DTC and the Sun Center are an integral part of a burgeoning entrepreneurial area that draws from the surrounding creative culture. Dozens of nearby restaurants, coffee houses, retail and professional space, art galleries, theaters and cultural centers help to create the perfect environment for small and growing technology companies.

DTC is designed to give Synogen's seed stage medical technology companies and related high-tech companies the ability to focus on technology commercialization and the rapid attainment of their product and technology goals. Our tenant companies benefit from networking among the investors, inventors and other emerging companies located in the center. DTC tenants frequently choose to interact and leverage each other's expertise and networks to uncover new opportunities and build new relationships.

DTC was created in 2004 by Synogen to meet the rapidly growing needs of Synogen portfolio companies and other University of Florida start-ups.

Directions: From Gainesville intersection of University Avenue & Main Street: • Turn south on Main Street • Take Main Street south three blocks to SE 2nd Place • Turn left (east) on SE 2nd Place • Continue east for two blocks past the Hippodrome to Sun Center East    on the right hand side of the road, 101 Southeast 2nd Place • Parking is free in the lot directly behind the Sun Center (access from 2nd Place). • The stairwell entrance can be accessed from SE 2nd Place From Jacksonville: • Take I-10 west out of Jax • Exit south onto SR 301 toward Starke • In Waldo (speed trap), exit west/south onto highway 24 toward Gainesville • In Gainesville, turn west (right) onto highway 26, which is also University Avenue • Go approximately 10 blocks and turn left (south) on SE 1st Street • SE 1st Street will dead-end at SE 2nd Place, with the Hippodrome State Theatre in front of you • Turn left (east) on SE 2nd Place • Continue east for ½ block past the Sun Center East, and turn right into the Sun Center parking lot • Parking is free in the lot. The lot is directly behind the Sun Center (access from 2nd Place). From the Biotechnology Development Institute in Alachua: • Turn right out of the Progress Park onto South Highway 441 • Turn right at Martin Luther King Blvd/US-441 South toward Gainesville • Continue to US-441 South ~11 miles • As the road veers right into Gainesville, turn left at the fork, onto NW 6th Street (no light a Stop sign before crossing the other lane of 441) • Continue on 6th Street ~4 blocks to the first light. Turn left at the 1st light onto 39th Avenue • Continue on 39th Ave ~ 6 blocks & turn right (south) to Main Street • Follow Main Street 39 blocks to the intersection of Main & University Avenue • Continue on Main Street past University Ave for three blocks • Turn left off Main Street onto SE 2nd Place • Continue 1½ blocks on SE 2nd Place, past the Hippodrome Theatre on your left, to Sun Center East on the right hand side of the road • 101 Southeast 2nd Place • Parking is free in the lot directly behind the Sun Center (access from 2nd Place) • The stairwell entrance can be accessed from SE 2nd Place
