Dr. Wironen holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (polymer science) from the University of Florida, where he concentrated in biomaterials and drug delivery devices. Dr. Wironen was the Senior Scientist and Acting Director of Research at Regeneration Technologies for seven years, where he was responsible for creating the research department as well as inventing and developing product lines such as Osteofil , Opteform , skin grafts, techniques for quantifying tissue properties and various tissue sterilization technologies. He was also principal investigator for all internal animal studies and the quality control program for the osteoinductive products at RTI. Dr. Wironen also served as the pathologist evaluating both research and quality control implant pathology. Dr. Wironen traveled extensively for RTI, giving Surgical Grand Rounds and other presentation throughout the world. Prior to his experiences at RTI, Dr. Wironen was President and CEO of a consulting firm that was involved in ventures in the urinary catheter, and sports medicine markets. He has also worked and published in the field of nuclear medicine. Dr. Wironen is currently Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida, and he remains active in the Biomedical Engineering field. |
