Dr. Kirk holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (polymer science) from the University of Florida, where he concentrated in biomaterials and drug delivery devices. He earned his MBA from Boston University, and his Masters in Material Science and Engineering from MIT, concentrating in biomaterials. His B.S. is in Mechanical Engineering. Dr. Kirk was manager of the Research Group at Regeneration Technologies for five years, where he was responsible for all the company's biomedical products, manufacturing process alterations and new product development, including sterilization issues. Previously he was a senior process engineer with Johnson & Johnson Vistakon, and a research scientist with Targeted Pharmaceuticals, where he worked on the delivery of drugs and other biologic agents via protein microspheres. He has also worked with Genzyme Corporation as a research scientist His consulting projects have included manufacturing process design, equipment design, biodegradable implants and prototyping of medical instrumentation. Dr. Kirk is currently Director of Manufacturing & New Product Development with Veterinary Medical Solutions, Inc. (VMSI).
